Reflect shapes

M1: Interactive reflections resource: drag the yellow shape with the black outline and watch the reflections change. Select the shape using the buttons. Turn the labels and coordinates on or off.

M2: Reflect shapes in a vertical or horizontal mirror line.
No answers!

M3: Reflect shapes in a diagonal mirror line.
No answers!

Rotate a triangle about a point

M4: Interactive rotation resource: drag the yellow triangle and watch the rotations. Move the centre of rotation (the red point). Use the buttons to show or hide the rotations. Turn the labels and coordinates on or off.

Turn the transparent triangles on or offThe transparent triangles can be used as 'answers'. Select the triangle and drag it to where you think the rotation is going to be.

Reflect, rotate and translate a triangle

M5: Interactive transformation resource: drag the yellow triangle and watch the transformations. Use the buttons to show or hide the translation, reflections or rotations. Turn the labels and coordinates on or off.

Turn the transparent triangles on or offThe transparent triangles can be used as 'answers'. Select the triangle and drag it to where you think the reflection or rotation is going to be.

Rotate and reflect shapes

M6: Rotate and reflect shapes on to their shadows: use the transformation buttons to rotate and reflect the shapes. Use the shape buttons to change the shapes.

Click on the green button to change the mode.
Use the 'instant mode' to carry out the transformations straightaway.
Use the 'program mode' to create a set of up to five transformations which will be carried out one after another.

Reflect, rotate and translate two triangles

M7: Rotate, reflect and translate triangles on to their shadows: use the transformation buttons to rotate, reflect and translate the shapes.

Use these buttons to hide or show the triangles, their shadows and outlines, and the lines y=x and y= -x.

The outlines are useful for seeing where the transformation starts.

Up to five commands can be put into a program. Click on the 'play' button to run the program. When the transformations have finished you can start again with a new program or reset the shapes to run the program again.
Click on the green button to change the mode.

Use the 'instant mode' to carry out the transformations straightaway.
Use the 'program mode' to create a set of up to five transformations which will be carried out one after another.

Enlarge shapes

Use these buttons to hide or show features.M8: Enlarge shapes: drag the red shapes about.

Drag the centre of enlargement and use the slider to determine the enlargement scale factor.

Use the buttons to hide or show (from the top) the coordinates, the enlargement lines
and the triangle and trapezium enalargements.
